Spring Break 2008

The grands had spring break last week and spent time with us. We enjoy having them visit.
We woke one morning to 3 inches of snow - and we put on boots and went outside. It was a typical spring snow - very wet and almost gone by 3 in the afternoon!! Walking by the creek gave a good chance for climbing downed trees!
And for climbing up hills.....

And for making snowballs - which ended up splashed into the creek.
What fun!!

We also had time for playing games inside. Pokemon cards.......

Building a home for little pokemon figures....
or building a robot.......

We went downtown Lansing to the Historical Museum and spent 3 hours!!
This is the Michigan state tree - the white pine.

This large thing was used to haul logs when gathering lumber in the UP.
Friday evening we all went to the Lansing Symphony. There was a percussion piece that was really neat. We talked about all the instruments and where they would be on stage - a very nice night out - and a late one!!!

Saturday we went to Vet-a-Visit - visit the Vet Department at MSU. What a LOT of things to see and do.
The radiology tour was interesting. Animals swallow some interesting things!!

We had planned to meet Ruth, Debbie and Catherine - and with all the millions of people, were amazed that we really did meet up with them. The kids got to milk a cow and run an agility course - really for dogs, but a good large motor activity for children too, together. Catherine got her face painted. The line was too long for us!!!

Alexander milking!!!!!

Allison milking!!!

This horse was to allow people to see the "inside" - someone worked very hard on this. The young man talked about all the bones and joints. Allison really liked seeing this horse - expecially as he relieved himself!!!
There were horse jaw bones to touch too.
There were so many exhibits - rabbits to pet, dogs to pet and adopt, and much more........and so many people - and so much that one could do.
We came home and Allison took a nap, Alexander and I had a quiet reading time because we had tickets to The Music Man in the evening.

We met up with Catherine again - and her mom, Debbie, Ruth and their mother, and our friend Carol, for the play at East Lansing High School.
Fun to see the musical - and the "pit" .......and to see friends. We had seats in the second row........ The children knew many of the instruments by name and we watched over the edge while they completed the finale.
The kids had a good week. Some planned activites and some stay home and play times.
They went home today - I take them to Bowling Green to meet their parents - a half way point.
Home to lots of laundry and house to clean.........
