Aunt Susie is 95!!!!!!

Today Aunt Susie is 95 years old!!!!!!!!!!!
Christine brought cake and ice cream to the home and we had a little party.
She had 2 nephews and a niece there as well has her brother and his wife.....Johns' parents.
She managed to blow out the candle and enjoyed the cake and ice cream. We took her back to her room - with lots of cards and balloons.
Susie has Alzheimer's and doesn't really remember much - but for the moment she was happy and it showed.

DELTA ROCKS!!!!

The Delta Parks and Recreation Department puts on Delta Rocks! - a family festival every summer. It is an afternoon of fun activities - giant slides, petting zoo, alpacas, face painting, and LOTS of make-it-and-take-it crafts, clowns, stilt walkers, chalk art, business expo, and LOTs more. Something for all age groups. It was a great afternoon - sunny and hot. We all decorated sun visors that got lots of compliments.
Andrew enjoyed the Tot Lot - great for the under 2 crowd.
Alexander did well at some carnival type games.
Allison loved the butterfly on her cheek.
We spent the whole afternoon there and all needed showers before bed!!!

Family Day

We had three kids for the weekend.

Andrew enjoys his older brother and sister and is a very happy little guy.

Alexander and Allison wanted pictures of themselves with John and me......

We visited the Kuhlman Greats this afternoon and the Thomas Greats came over for dinner.

The kids left after dinner.........

It's quiet here!!!!!!!!!!!

Around the House and Golfing

Another week of fun activities here. We found a "Magical Musical Thing" - a toy that belonged to Ashley. The kids played easy songs on it and I have been playing duet with Alexander and his violin!!!
Allison loves playing with Polly Pocket dolls - and all their accessories.
Alexander has some Harry Potter legos which he has combined with some Knights' Kingdom legos for some very imaginative play.
Of course, being here involves some creek play.........at one point Alexanders' croc shoes fell off and he was dashing down stream to pick them up and fell in....it just HAS to happen!!!! Once wet, they needed to be hosed off and that led to more fun!!
We all went golfing - played 13 holes before we had to come home because John had an appointment. Alexander can hit some pretty good shots and learned to drive the golf cart. Allison was along mostly for the ride.....her attire says it all!!!

Dinner with The Greats

On Father's Day the Greats came for dinner.
The kids picked the menu - chicken on the grill - cooked by Grandpa John.
We had blueberry muffins, cole slaw, watermelon and key lime pie for dessert. Allison helped make the cole slaw and Alexander helped squeeze LOTS of limes for pie and for limeade.
We HAD to get the photo of the special occasion.

Hot Sunny Weather = Pools and Water

This week has been beautiful - hot and sunny every day..........and that means water to keep cool.
Allison has a friend at the Grand Ledge pool. She is very comfortable in the water with her swimmies on - but doesn't like to get water in her face. She did, however, jump off the edge with some other little girls - didn't want to be left out....and continued to do it after they were gone.
Alexander is part fish. He is not a strong swimmer, but goes off the board and spends a lot of time under the water. He dives for things from the bottom of the shallow end and loves going thru my legs. We've been to the pool twice.
Today we went to a splash park at Hawk Island Park - lots of water coming from many different angles. The kids spent most of the time in the little lake.......Allsion even put her face in a couple times......on her own, not just when I was spinning her around and dropping her!!! Alexander was a fish under water..........and we saw real fish, too!!
John grilled steak on the grill and we had a special request for broccoli with cheese.......both kids LOVE that. A good day.........

Impressions Five

We went to Impressions Five Museum - a hands on place. Lots to do.
First thing was a NASA Exhibit in a special semi truck parked outside. Interactive information about space exploration.
Inside was the bubbles, pulleys, walk-in heart, mirrors, volcano demo, and much more.
We came home and worked in the yard with John -trimming bushes , washing the gross bug guts off my car and playing with the hose and the nerf darts.

Graduation Party

We had a Graduation Party here on Saturday.
My niece, Erin ( in the blue top) , graduated from Washington University with a degree in Physical Therapy - and has moved to Groton, Conn. and has a job lined up there - also a finance there!!!
My niece, Sarah (in the stripes) , graduated from high school in West Lafayette Indiana. She is headed for New York University school of drama......quite the actress already!!!

It was a very nice time with family. Ashley came with her children, my sister was here from Virginia, my brother John with the girls and his friend, Theresa, and of course, my parents.

That cake in the picture was a chocolate raspberry ---YUMMY!!!!!
Barb had some fireworks for entertainment.......

Alexander and Allison will be with us for a couple weeks!!!!!! More posts later.

National Quilt Association in Columbus

Last week I spent time at the National Quilt Association Convention and Show in Colombus, Ohio with my good friend Cindy.
We took a 2 day class with Laura Wasilowski - Fusing hand died fabrics. It was creative and fun and we both made more than one piece. The picture is of our first piece.
We saw many beautiful quilts and friends, too..........Pat met us for lunch at the North Market on Thursday. We LOVE the North Market - and Jeni's Ice Cream - Mango, Chocolate with Ceyenne and Cinnamon, French Lavendar - just to name a few...........I look forward to ice cream after lunch when we go there.
We had dinner on Thursday with Sophie from Lansing and Amy from The Alliance for Quilts from North Carolina.........good beer and conversation.
The sad ending to the day was that Cindys' duffle with her personal belongings was missing from the luggage check at the hotel.....hair dryer, cosmetics, etc.........
It was a great class.........and I intend to fuse more........
