Memorial Weekend

This little Columbine bloomed this weekend - love the colors. Mom cardinal has 3 eggs in her nest. There has been a nest in this bush every year - but rarely any birds to show for it. Too many preditors in the area - crows and coons usually get the eggs or babies.......sorry to say.
We have had very little rain, but my garden is growing. I have watered a couple times. I planted 2 summer squash plants. Beans popped thru the earth this weekend - they are in the foreground.

We played golf every day this weekend. Saturday was a Par 3 Tournament - every hole had a special made tee so it was a par 3. They were in unique places - a mowed spot off to the side, over a trap or water, etc. Not in the usual approach to the holes. I won third place in the third flight - $35 in pro shop money.
Sunday John and I played regular golf - our usual "date."
Monday was a couples outing in the afternoon and brats on the grill - a scramble format with about 40 people. Just for fun.
The weather cooperated all weekend!!!

This evening was Block Exchange meeting - a small group, but here are some pictures.
These neat blocks belong to Bonnie - we all like the secondary pattern that forms......

These are my blocks - Janette, this will be your Christmas present.

Dorothy has us using southwest colors for her - she plans to applique some little critters in the open centers. Like a gecko, kokopelli, cactus, etc....

Yes...you have seen these stars before (if you remember). They are for Carol - our second year of making these so she has enuf for a quilt.

These oriental fabrics are what Ruth has asked for - many different ones here.

This is the block Terri has us making for her son who is graduating from Williamston High School this year - green and gold are the school colors.

Cindy has us making these houses - I love the way it looks like the lights are on in the windows - and the orange door just sparkles. She has some trees to use with the houses.....and who knows what else????

It was really a nice weekend. Nasty storms were predicted for Monday - and they never came.
It was good to end the weekend with quilter friends and home to the Red Wings playing in the Stanley Cup finals. I kinda watch while doing hand piecing - starting something new with the turquoise and lime fabrics that I have collected. I have put a few hundred seed beeds on a quilt and needed a break to do something else.
