Happy Mother's Day

An added picture - taken this evening - a true Mother's Day picture - my mom, sister and me..........don't know if this has ever been done before!!!
You can see the table was set in the background - the ham had just come out of the oven and was "resting" so John had a minute to take a picture.
This is the card I received in the mail from my grands.......Alexander, Allison and Andrew. Alexander had labeled the monkies and added hair to the one representing Allison. Notice me lounging on the chair enjoying their antics.

I have called my mother - who said she received calls from all her children.
John called his mother - they got back to Michigan yesterday.

It is certainly NOT a beautiful day - rain and 48 degrees outside. Mango has managed to sleep the entire morning under the quilt rack - his latest hang-out.

He got up to look inside and was not impressed - he's back sleeping now!!

I have a little basket of home made muffins and a card for my mom.

My folks and my sister will be here later for dinner.
Barb drove a car from Virginia to Michigan to give to her son at K College. He needs it for a summer intern job at Binder Park Zoo.

Barb stopped at Mom Wilson's Country Sausage Mart in Delaware, Ohio to get a Whole Smoked Hog for dinner. The store is by the side of US-23 and sells the BEST hickory smoked meats and homemade saurkraut. They are only open from late fall until spring - gotta let those little hogs grow!!!

Their meat is "made from happy contented hogs for happy contented customers" - and we are one of their long distance customers who will be contented after dinner today. The smell of the wrapping is unbelievable - and the kitchen will smell soooo good when the ham gets in the oven. Wish I could bottle it!!
We will also have corn casserole, fresh apsaragus and dessert.

John and I enjoyed some hickory smoked bacon with our eggs this morning - we have a small stock in the freezer now. Barb also brought us some homemade brats - they are the yummy!! They were out of kraut - OH NO - what will be do??

I made an angel food cake so we can have strawberry shortcake for dessert.

This is what I have been working on lately. I pieced it over the winter - by hand, of course.

I have machine quilted many straight lines in the body of the quilt.

I was unsure of what to do in the borders. The other evening at GASP, Ruth suggested I do lines - so that is what I have been doing the last couple days.

I marked lines from the layout of the inside of the quilt.

Thanks, Ruth

I have been using beads on the floral design.....and will add lots more - mostly little seed beads.

The dinner sounds good. We had asparagus too. It was yummy. Love your quilt and the border quilting. We need the rain, hopefully it will stop for Monday.
