A Beautiful Spring Day

As I write this, the sun is setting behind the trees - and the sky looks like it is on fire!!!

A Spring (and Summer) day starts with putting the new jar out on the deck to make sun tea. I worked hard this morning to plant the tomatoes, peppers and beans in the garden. Got the cages out and then the posts and trellis and then the fence - with help from John. The sugar snap peas are just coming up - and the trellis is ready.

Lastly comes the little bags of "rat poison" to try to keep the deer away.

It was a day to clean bathrooms and wash towels.........using my clothes line to dry........when ever I can.
I did some work in garden areas. This is the great grandmother of hosta plants. I bought it from some school kid quite a number of years ago and it came in a little box - I have cut many "babies" from the front of it - as you can see.

I have purchased different hostas the last couple years - need variety. There are so many beautiful hosta plants.

This little tree is finally looking more like a tree than the twig that was planted maybe 4-5 years ago. The deer keep trimming it. It is a shag-bark maple that my dad gave me. His trees are 6 feet and full!!!!!!!

The lilac bush has some blossoms. Not many. We cut it down and trimmed the top last year........had to - it was way overgrown.

It was nice to spend a couple hours on the deck reading. I am almost finished with The Girl with no Shadow - the sequel to Chocolat by Joanne Harris.
We had ham for dinner - leftovers from mothers day. YUMMY

Beautiful garden pictures. If your Dad gets any more shagbark maple seedlings, I would like one. Good luck on keeping the deer away. You are getting so "GREEN" with the clothesline, growing your own herbs and veggies etc. Good for you!
