Garden News

Two years ago I was given a Stargazer Lily plant at the end of a Baby Storytime session.

I planted it at the base of the stairs from the deck.

Last year it had 3 blossoms. I put a tomato cage around it because it looked like it was going to fall over.

This year seven blossoms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It smells heavenly!!!!!!! Thank you, Emily. My garden is doing quite well. I am picking peas daily and we should have some with our Sunday dinner. They are on the left of this picture. I thought they were sugar snap peas like I usually get - but this are midgets!!!!!!!! I put the string trellis up 6 feet high!!!! Obviously, they are a different variety than I have had previously.

The beans (in the foreground) are forming, so we should be eating them soon. Many of those drowned about a week after planting because of nasty rains.
The tomatoes are about 4 feet tall with tomatoes forming. I have Early Girl, Heirloom and Cherry tomotoes that we will harvest. Hidden in there is a plant of yellow little tomatoes - for Allison.
On the right are some yellow pepper plants and if you look closely you can see the little carrots starting. They totally drowned and had to be replanted.
I would really like to double the size of the garden.............add squash, more tomatoes, and who knows what else. But that would be a LOT of work.............

This moring was Max's Race - weather was ominous.........grey clouds spitting as I drove to campus........ It was a great race. I could both walk and run (slow jog) and had a very good time. I was 5th in my age group, I think............that's fine with me. I met some other ladies that are on the Playmakers team who walk - we will meet again!!!!!

Love the Stargazer Lily, Linda. Don't think Iknow that one. Also noted that your Hosta looks good --mine are doing so well that I'm going to have to get Tim or Harold to move a middle one to a new space. It's outgrown the space to which it was transplanted a few years ago by Tim. Happy Sunday. Daisy
