Cindy left MSU after 2 years to finish at Wayne State. We both graduated with degrees in Education - she in Special Ed and me in Child Development.
She was the Maid of Honor at our wedding. I was in her wedding.
We have daughters that are close in age - Miriam and Ashley. Cindy has a second daughter, Sarah, who is working in Chicago.
Cindy and Ron live in San Diego - and have ever since Miriam was a baby. When Ashley was about 7, we went to visit them in CA. A few years after that we all spent a couple days here.
It's been quite a few years since Cindy and I have seen each other. She and her husband are in Detroit for a conference and then on to Chicago for another.........and a little vacation time.
We had a day and a half together. We went out to MSU yesterday - drove around campus, saw our old dorm, the music building where we had a class together with Miss Mangino, walked around the gardens and the Childrens' Garden, had ice cream from the Dairy Store.........she said the campus was more beautiful than she remembered. She is also in love with all the lush green here - very different from San Deigo.......and back to her midwest roots . Cindy enjoyed our back deck - all the GREEN, deer and fawns, the creek - which rose overnight, birds, and the space - no yards like ours in San Diego!!!!! We shattered all that peace and quiet with our talking!!!!
Last night she got to experience a summer thunder boomer extrodinaire!!!!!!!! Started at 1:57 and went on for over an hour - don't know exactly as power was out and clock was black!!!
Today we went out to lunch with my parents at the University Club. Cindy remembers coming to my home for Sunday dinner as they did not serve that meal. My parents were happy to see her and catch up on her life. After lunch, we went to a bookstore so she could get a MSU shirt and pen and water bottle........... Then she was off to pick up Ron at the airport in Detroit.
She also went home with a quilt for her grandaughter, Olivia. I gave her Bleeding Hearts - the last quilt I made for myself, but I have plenty!!! I put a new label over the old one - Hearts and Frogs for Olivia. There is a great frog fabric on the back.
I'm so glad she got to spend a little time here.........friends for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
