West Michigan Quilt Guild show in Grand Rapids

First - there are 4 rows of blocks ready to be put together......you can see the meandering layout. I have 3 blocks cut out ready to piece for "into" the border treatment. Now to the show..........The guild there featured some quilts from their sister city in Japan. These ladies make outstanding quilts. Of course, they work on one quilt at a time and it's ok to take 2-3 years. And, yes, they are all done by hand - piecing and quilting, too.

I've done this block - only it was a 12 inch block...........not 4 inch!!!!!!!!!!

Close up...............all I can say is WOW............WOW..............

This quilt is 16 inches square!!!!!!!!!!!

Note the cornerstones!!!!!!!!!!!!

This wall hanging uses hand dyed fabrics..........

I know this is a pattern - but I love it. Don't know if the palm tree is on the pattern, but I like the touch........trunk goes below the quilt line.

I really like this - altho it could drive one crazy to piece it!!!!!!!!!!!

Baskets like this would be a great way to use some scraps............

This quilt started in a Jane Sassaman class and then it went Gwenie!!!!!!!!!!

I seem to be taking pictures of arty quilts..............

That is the direction that I want to go.................

There were many good vendors at the show.........Cindy and I supported a few of them. Funny, one of those hails from Holt!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stopped at Maria's Tacos in Portland for a little late lunch..........and a quick visit to Around The Block quilt shop.
