So I stay inside and basted!!!!!!!!
I start basting on the floor in the kitchen - tape the backing down, put the batt and front down and crawl around. I sew one direction and then take the quilt up so I can finish basting on the island - MUCH more comfortable!!!!!!!!
This is the space quilt for Alexander. It is made from two panels plus lots of other fabrics. The sky has stars that will glow in the dark. The pictorals were cut from the second panel.
and close ups of planets and the moon.
I will machine quilt this one myself. I can do it now that my machine is humming.
I could hear the weather alerts on the radio and the sirens go off in the township!!! I stayed basting - being the unofficial weather watcher for our home. The sky was slowly getting brighter and rain diminishing so I didn't go to some interior room and take cover as directed.
I was paying attention - and could hear everything as the windows in the kitchen were open for a nice breeze.
We are supposed to get wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour because of a record low barometric pressure in the midwest here.

The leaves have already blown to the front door - there is a Halloween mat under there!!!!!!!!

Basting away again in Margaritaville!
Sure wish I still had some - finished my jug on Labor Day weekend......wonder what it would do to my basting lines!!!!!!!!!
Cool quilt and great use of pre-printed fabric --- he will love it. ...and, I'm glad your machine is back on line!
I love the quilt. I too was home and watching the weather guys on WLNS and WILX. They told us the sirens were in error in Lansing. The tornado warnings were for elsewhere (south and way east) so we were alarmed for nothing. The wind has been pretty strong but helped me, Costa and Spencer in taking up the leaves in my backyard. We didn't need to rake or blow the leaves much since the wind did all the work. Yipee!!
I was at work. They told us we could take shelter in the break room if we felt the need but nobody moved. It cleared up enough for me to have lunch in my car.
My older son, Dan, would have really loved this quilt at that age. I actually made him an astronaut outfit for halloween at that age. Who knew elves loved outer space???
I was at work/lunch and several people whipped out there smart phones and looked up the weather and noted it all went south of here. So nobody paid attention to the siren.
