Great Weekend

Great Weekend - in many different ways!!!

I picked up the grands in Perrysburg, Ohio on Friday. They had a great time sledding that afternoon. Our neighbors have a perfect hill in their yard and we were outside for over an hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday we went to Burcham Hills to have lunch with the Greats - the Great Grandparents!
They have been there two weeks now and seem to be adjusting well. Putney, their dog, is with them, too. Notice the flowers in the background of this first picture - sent by my nice sister in honor of out parents 65th anniversary!!!!!

Andrew was really taken with the bear claw belt buckle. All had to take a close look at the bear claws and the turquoise inlays. My parents spent time in the southwest and have a lots of silver and turquoise jewelry, navaho rugs and Santa Clara pottery.
I really tried to get a picture of all of them. Andrew is still into not having his picture taken - so this is the best I can do!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday afternoon the kids went outside to play in the snow again. They tromped all over the back - throwing stuff into the creek, rolling in the snow, walking in the woods, etc.

They climbed up a small hill - it's our hill where we dump leaves, etc. Soft and fun to sink into!!!

Kids, snow and sticks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the best picture of the three of them that I've had in a long time!!!!!!!!!!

Coming in was another story...........Andrew was tired and so they got the sled to pull him on. But coming up the hills in the back was not easy...........

As usual, they spent a great deal of time with the star wars legos, playmobile knights and polly pockets. Somehow, all three are in the same "play"!!!!!!!!!!!

After baths on Saturday evening, I put 7 braids into Allisons' hair. She was happy!!!!!!!!!
I used to do the same for a young Ashley!!!!!!!!!!

I took the kids home - the halfway meeting spot - on Sunday afternoon. We stopped at a Beef Jerkey place in Dundee - great quick stop - homemade jerkey in many flavors. Alexander really likes the stuff - fine with me!!!!!! We got held up just south of Dundee - detoured off the freeway on roads that you wouldn't believe - who knows where we were - but were back on the freeway 6 miles south of where we got off. We could see lights and trucks near there - so the back up was 6 miles long!!!!!!!!! Glad we got there when we did and did the detour - I'm sure the wait was over an hour!!!!!!!!!
I needed to get back to Okemos for the Playmakers Sign up. It was one year ago that I started my run/walk and I'm hooked!!! I'm a poster girl for them!!!

Hopefully this week I will have some time with my new sewing machine. You can see that I have lost my top drawer ( I reach in there to turn the machine on and off) and that the machine just fits into the space ..........and it works just fine. I have a flat area to sew and if I want to use the free arm, I can lift it out.
I have done some straight sewing and straight quilting with it. I want to practice free motion quilting and get busy on Allisons' quilt. Hopefully, I will get a call soon about lessons because there is LOTS to this machine that I need help with. I am a visual learner and do better seeing someone demonstrate techniques.

Another great weekend!! Dan was my Lego man. He could play for hours with them. Made lots of space ships. He had a small suitcase (actually my Mom's old traveling make up case from the 60's. He even took them with him when he moved to Adrian for his first job.
Jesse could never sit still that long.
Of course, all those toys belong in the same play!!! What great imaginations. A wonderful sight in todays very organized world.

Don't you love seeing the exuberance of the kids playing in the snow?! I shivver looking at them! Your new machine looks wonderful --- I look forward to hearing more about it. I think it's probably a good thing to try using it for a couple of weeks --- then you can ask some "educated" questions.

Good to hear you're going to get lessons. I had no clue of all of my machine's features until I took the class. It was wonderful to have a live human there to answer all my questions and not to try to find in a manual or online. Also - when I took my lessons, they had us bring our own machines in, which was really helpful. Have fun!
