Michigan Quilt Artist Invitational and Marshall Quilt Show

Friday evening Cindy, Ruth and I went to Flint to the opening reception of the Michigan Quilt Artists Invitational. This year the theme was the Art of Nature.
This is me with "May They Always Touch" - the grandkids hands touching the flowers.

Cindy with her "Spring Leaves"

We learned the theme for next year - "South of the Border" - while I have no real inspiration yet, I sent my money in to continue with the group.

We stopped at Outback for dinner after the reception.

Saturday morning we three headed to Marshall for a quilt show.
And a nice show it was!!!

We are in the booth of Windberry Studios - Hand dyed fabric and Art cloth........absolutely gorgeous!!!! Both Cindy and I got a selection of fabrics. For me, it will be my winter art quilt project and maybe more!!!

Ruth found the basket lady that she was hoping to see and purchased a basket for by her sewing machine - too pretty to be called a trash basket!!!!

Fireworks!!!!

This may be a pattern - it brought smiles as you looked at it!!!

Three dimensional and arty..........

Nicely done.......

I liked this one.

Hand applique and hand quilting always catches my eye!!!

Someone else likes to use Jane Sassaman fabrics...........I LOVE them!!!!!!

Cats for Halloween!!!!!!!!!!

Simple and effective - makes me think of a landscape background.

This caught Cindys' eye - a pattern to use some line of fabric that she has.......easy, too!!!

We had lunch at the show and went to the quilt shop in Marshall. It's a great shop and I found some fabrics to use for the handprint quilt for Johns' dad.
We stopped in Grand Ledge at Ledge Craft Lane. Dan Burke is the featured artist this month. His quilts are fantastic!!!! Paper piecing at it's best!!!!!!!!!!!

He is going to be or has published patterns for some of his quilts - and won awards, too.

This is a miniature --------absolutely breathtaking!!!!!!!!

We got home mid afternoon and I had a little time to read before dinner.
John got packed and ready to leave for the "Red Eye" - an annual golf outing in the Gaylord area.
I am on my own this week..........just me and Mango.
