Labor Day Weekend

What a weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!

It started Saturday evening with the Thomas greats coming for dinner. Sunday was the annual Kuhlman Family Picnic at the Zweering place on a lake up north--just under 2 hours north.

The kids rode with us. Andrew liked that. Ashley and Alex rode with Dick, Marcia and Mom.

There is lots of water play - with cousin Xavier here.

Lots of sand play - Andrew likes the sand!!!!!!!!!!!!

The kids loved the water!!!!!!!!!!!!
You will have to ask Alexander about the goggles.............

Tubing is an annual event...............I think they are ready for more speed!!!!!!!!!!

A good bumping would do this gal good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrew wanted to go tubing behind the fast boat..............and he went with Alexander.

They had a good ride........
Matt, Katie, and Larry are sooo patient with them.

Allison worked on her mud pie technique. I got complete directions for the best recipes. She is ready for the food network!!!!!!!!!!!!

Notice the pie in the foreground - well decorated with acorns..........

Great Grandpa Kuhlman is now in an assisted living facility and could not join us. I got painted handprints from everybody and will make him a quilt.
I was told by some that they hadn't felt the paint on the hand since preschool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After painting the hand, you press onto the fabric.

All the handprings on the line...................looks kind of cool!!!!!!!!!
Don't expect this quilt done in a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a yummy dinner, the campfire was lit. Aunt Chris instructed Allison in the fine art of roasting marshmallow............just right............

Allison had a couple som'mores - she really liked them!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know for a fact that she has a sweet tooth!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eddie set up some night fishing - for catfish..............Alexander was really into this.

Xavier and Andrew watched their line - patience is a virtue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the lines had a catch and Eddie helped Alexander real something in - but it got away and they set a new line.

Waiting around the campfire. The kids enjoyed watching some different things being tossed into the fire - plates, cups, etc and seeing how they burned.........and died!!!!!!!!!!

We left by 10 pm with the kids in the back seat. Allison has enjoyed listening to "Sugarland" - a country group. She wanted her brothers to hear the songs. John and I could hardly contain ourselves on the drive home with the three kids singing along with the group - "I'll I want to do, oo, oo, oo, oo, ooo, ooo, oo, oo, oo, oo, ooo, ooo, oo, oo, oo, oo ........is looove you" ----------What a memory!!!!!!!!!!!!!! until after about an hour they fell asleep..........and we all crashed by midnight.
Today was a sleep in day......... I made pancakes for late breakfast and helped pack sandwiches for on the way back to Ohio.
I did some laundry and John painted the garage door - our labors of the day!!!!
