Latest Work in Progress

This is what I have been working on this spring. The 20 center blocks are all scrap - no repeated fabrics. It is all hand pieced. I saw the block pattern on a blog that I read occasionally by Quiltdiva Julie. I drafted it out - love doing that!!!! I know I'm strange!!!!!
I sewed the blocks together while at Quilting By the Lake in April and have since added the triangle border - also pieced by hand - my passion!!!

Allison looked at it this weekend and saw that it spelled S O both forwards and backwards - kids are soooo observant!!!!!!!!! She liked looking at it thru the reducing glass, too.
After the triangles comes an appliqued "vine." I am working on the last one while watching Red Wings hockey.... One corner has an applique surprise.
Sewn into this are some prarie points that once belonged to Nelda Orr - who died suddenly this spring. She was such a beautiful, sweet lady. Some of her quilting stuff was at a guild meeting to share with her friends and Cindy got me a little bag of these points. They work perfectly.
After the vine there will be a border of triangles in a pinwheel pattern - MANY MORE bright colors.
I have really enjoyed working on this. No time restraints.......it will be done when it's done!!!!!!!! And you will see a picture!!!

I love it!!! Nelda would be so happy that she lives on in your quilt. You would have loved the CCQG meeting last night. Art quilts to die for..... Have a great weekend. Can't wait to see the finished product, don't rush though.

You aren't helping the Red Wings tonight!!! ...and, they need it! Love the progression of the quilt. You get way more done hand piecing than I do with the machine! I look forward to seeing the finished quilt!...and I enjoyed the arty workshop today!
