Spring, my Garden and Running

This is the little tree in our front garden. It leafs out before the blossoms so they are not seen as readily as some flowering trees. It sure smells good and I have seen a few bees around!!! I have peas coming up and planted beans and carrots and some tomato plants are in. Many of the peas washed away and drowned with recent monsoons, but I planted some more.
Last night I covered the tomatoes - will need to cover again tonight. I also need to get some cherry tomato plants - we like those to nibble on!!!

I need to get more "Green Screen" - the product that I have found that keeps the animals from eating my garden. You can see the little bags tied to the fence. It can only be found at Van Atta's - a garden store that is in Haslett - hope to get there after work in Wednesday.

I LOVE violets.

I have two different kinds flowering around the house. Picked some Lily of the Valley yesterday.

On my running/walking scene, I have had some success!!!!!
I have been walking in some races that have that category - with very good luck - the green/white ribboned medal is from the Race for the Place (April) at MSU where I was first in my age group.
The bookmark is from the Race for Reading at Delta Library (April) where I again came in first in my age group for walking.
The medal on the gold ribbon is for the Race for the House - The one in March which I did with Ashley and Alexander. I came in third in my age group. That race I did a walk/run combination.

My most recent race was in Mason on May 1 - an evening race. There was no walking category and I did jog a little and came in fifth - with a personal best time!!!!! There were over 650 in that race!!! I really noticed an increase in stamina during this race.
I am best when walking fast - I am doing just under a 13 minute mile. For someone who is still a beginner - I'm pleased with my times. I'm more pleased (love the grammar) with the level of stamina that I have - my training walks are increasing in length. I have been walking 4 miles three times a week. I will continue to walk - found out that running (jogging) does affect my knees. Not all races have a category for walkers, so when that is not an option, I will jog some of the time. At first, my run caused my walk to slow, but now I no longer need the slower walk to recover.....
My next race is June 5 - Cooley Law School 5K Race for Education. All races are for a cause - and fun!!!!!
I have met some new friends and feel good!!!!

Yes........I'm still sewing......... in a weak moment I volunteered to make a dress for a local theater group!!!!!! Eeee Gads!! What was I thinking????

Love your garden pixs. Congratulations on the walks and runs! You are an inspiration to me. Maybe I will take a walk tonight if I get home before dark that is.

Glad to see the pictures and computer "running" again. I know what you mean about running and knee pain --- besides that --- you can walk for life, running seems to have a limited time span. And, --- you can see the pretty gardens, when you are walking!
