I have walked the neighborhood - or wherever I was - for many years. But now I have challenged myself to do something I've never done.
I joined Playmakers Team to meet others, get motivation, support and information (right down to brands of socks that are great!!). They are the most positive group I have ever been involved with. There is a coach that has ladies out every week walking to run.......increase the running time each week.
I have joined other team members on their Saturday training sessions, Thursday evening walks around Lake Lansing, and hooked up with a group from the west side that meets at a park near my home.
This all started last fall when Ashley suggested that we do a 5K together - and I enjoyed it so much that I did two more!!! I did the Run-A-Monk at Woldumar Nature Center in November and the Jingle Belle Women's 5K at Delta Library in December. Now I want to do one a month - not to be great or fast, but to be out there, support a cause, and have fun.
I am doing a fast walk and not running - really I jog - at least three times a week for 3 to 5 miles. Today I walked more than I ran because my knees are killing me!!! It feels good to be outside and moving my body. I find I have more energy - and I'm a hi energy person anyway.
I want this to be something I do - part of who I am. I wear many hats and am involved in LOTS of activities - I like being busy.
This Saturday is the first Spring race - Race for the House - to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Ashley and Alexander will be here to join me. It's at Hawk Island Park.
One of the Playmakers coaches has done an interview with me and it will be in the local paper on Tuesday. Guess I can't hide this any longer!!!!!
Look for me on the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome, Linda. I did the DinoDash at the MSU Library last October. Unfortunately, I've fallen off the wagon ... you're inspiring me to get back on it tho.
