Dinner with my Chinese Sister

That is a surprising title for this entry - at least for most of my friends.
A few years ago (we aren't saying how many to protect the innocent) my parents had a young grad student from China that lived with them while she was at MSU. My mom called her "Ying, my Chinese daughter." That makes her my Chinese sister.

Ying moved on, married, had kids, etc. About 6 years ago she visited East Lansing (from California) with her husband and children - Kevin and Joanie - and Alexander was visiting us. My dad took the children - and us - to the barns and gardens at MSU and they had a great time together. Ying and family now live in Vancouver and it is their Spring Break, so they came to the midwest to see Pistons basketball, Henry Ford Museum, Cleveland basketball, the Rock and Roll Museum and Amish country - and my parents. Ying has a special place in their hearts - and they in hers. I am so glad she could see them and we all had dinner together at Smokey Bones - yummy pulled pork.

I brought a little something for Kevin and Joanie to do with their hands - a little container of slime. Black slime..........

No...she is not drinking it - blowing bubbles into it!!!!

It pours neat and feels really fun in your hands........

It was a quick visit - over way too soon.........thanks for all the goodies.
Till we meet again Ying, Kevin and Joanie.......love you.
