Last evening at our GASP (Groesbeck Applique Support Providers) meeting we saw a few small quilts that ladies have made to benefit Solar Circle.
Solar Circle works with MSU to provide solar ovens to women in Tanzania. If you go to their website -
http://www.solar-circle.org/ you can find out more about the organization and click on the link to see the quilt that was raffled to help raise funds for this group.
These small quilts - and others being made as we speak - are made from leftover kitente cloth that was used in the large quilt.
They will be used to help raise more funds.........
This first is a table runner made by Cindy.

Carol S made the next two. Looks like I should have rotated the picture.........and held the camera steady!!!

The second by Carol.

This is my finished piece.
This one needs binding........I got some fabric for binding at the meeting.
On the homefront, we have daily visitors in the back yard.........amazing how they blend so well with the brown/grey scenery. We are anxiously awaiting some green here in Michigan. The creek has been over the banks a few times so far this year - I'm sure there will be spring rains that will have it up again.
As I backed out of the driveway this noon, I noticed a 3/4 inch growth of daffodil in a front garden............there is hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Temps are to be 50 this weekend. That should feel good for the walk I have planned on Sunday.........a nice long one. Thursday I walked 4.2 miles around Lake Lansing in just under an hour.

What beautiful little quilts you all are making! And this should make you feel good, this weekend, it's 10 degrees warmer there than here . . . I'm FREEZING (I know, I have absolutely no right to complain at all ;-)
Enjoy your spring weekend)
The quilts look pretty good --- hopefully others will like them well enough to buy them. I know deer can be a real pain for gardens, but they are so pretty and graceful!
