This is the cabinet where the cooktop goes - the downdraft fan is the circular hole - it vents under the floor and out the side of the kitchen. It had to be connected to the rectangular opening of the fan in the new cooktop.

WOW - it looks great!!! It's actually a little darker in real life!!!

The surface will take awhile for us to get used to. I will have to be careful not to break a glass or glass pan - at least that is my feeling right now.
AND......I will have to learn how to cook with gas.....I have 2 burners and the grill/griddle.
We are off to Ohio for this weekend - get to hug our grands!!!!

I love seeing the photos of your new kitchen island construction - especially the finished product. :)
I much prefer cooking with a gas stove --- better temp control. I'm quite sure I would break some glass on the granite counter top --- it certainly looks great. Hello to Ashley and the grands --- I know you will enjoy the trip --- looking forward to some pictures.
