Progress

This quilt has no name, so I just titled this post, Progress.

My progress is the sawtooth and squares for a border to make this quilt for a king size bed. They look big in this picture - they are 3 inches, just like the units in the center blocks.

I have one side done.

This whole quilt is really out of my comfort zone - but I have enjoyed working on it. I don't usually use these colors, or block pattern like in the center. The applique is all original.

Another side and the bottom yet to do.........and a couple corners........most of this quilt is done by hand - except for a few long seams to sew borders on. The fabric is so soft and enjoyable to work with.

No way can I quilt this myself!!!!!!! Altho I wish I could hand quilt it to keep it soft........don't think my hands would like me..........

Re: trying to keep a machine-quilted quilt "soft." I've found that two things work to make a machine-quilted quilt less stiff - (1) use thermore for a softer drape and (2) quilting that is farther apart (not tight, overall quilting).

For a set of blocks you didn't like you made them into a happy, summery quilt.
I think that if you can get the machine quilter to use a softer batt, it will be better.
