Spiders and Quilts

This lovely lady is the newest resident at Foster Library where I work. She and her sister have been working very hard on webs that fill the windows - 20 by 30 inch openings.

They are both very large - bodies at least 3/4 inch long and legs much longer. Yesterday we saw this one eat a bug with a shell. After the picture was taken she started eating her way down her web. Such behavior is very common for a araneus diadematus - Garden Spider female.

She and her sister are being watched closely by staff and patrons of the library. On the quilt scene I am enjoying making all kinds of heart blocks for Allison.
This is the quilt so far - I have another row to add to the top and then the pieced heart border.
It has been fun to made different blocks and then work to put them together with little "add-ins."
It is VERY pink!!!!!!!
This evening I'm doing a Halloween Storytime at the library.........get to do many of my favorite books - and a few songs.

Love the heart quilt for beautiful Allsion. DO NOT love those huge spiders. Glad they're there and NOT here! Daust

Geez! Cannot even spell my name tonight. It's been a long week. Forget "Daust" and sign me Daisy. Thanks.

I esp like the hearts-in-a-basket block. Can't wait to see this quilt when it is finished. What are you using for a backing?
