Costumes, Dinner and a Race

Friday I picked Allison and Andrew up in Perrysburg, Ohio for the weekend with us.
They played outside in the afternoon with Gabrielle from across the street and when the rain came, they went downstairs with the dress ups and house stuff.
Allison and Gabrielle discovered they share the same birthday - just a year apart!!

Saturday morning was time to try on the Halloween costumes.
Andrew wanted his same one from last year - the baseball. Three year olds are into routine and sameness......

Allison wanted to be a princess. She picked out the fabric when she was with us in August. She has the appropriate royal curtsey!!!
This is the costume for Alexander - modeled by Allison. He had a football game, so stayed at home with his Grandma Norma.
Andrew likes to play with his "guys" - some Playmobile knights and lots of accesories.. - horses, shields, swords, etc.
Allison likes all the dress ups.

My parents came for dinner on Saturday evening. Andrew - and Allison - loved all the Halloween books that I had put out on the hearth. I have quite a collection and will be doing a Halloween story time at my library later this month.

My brother, John, was here from Indiana. He helped us make bookmarks with Fall leaves to send to Sarah who is spending the year going to school in Paris. Andrew is into NOT having his picture taken - that way you can see his bookmark!!!
My sister, Barb, was here from Virginia, too.

As they left, Allison and my folks posed for a picture.

Mango can be good with the kids - he allows Allison to pick him up and Andrew was being very quiet and got to pet Mango. This does not happen often as he is mostly a loud and active three year old!!!

Sunday morning was the Dinosaur Dash at MSU. Sparty showed up after the race!!!!!

I walked the 5K - came in first in my age group and got a really nice backpack with the Dino Dash logo on it.
Allison ran the mile, Andrew did the Mini-Dash and both got medals for their effort.

John came along to watch kids while I raced. They went inside the museum for a little while.
There were some things for kids to do - bean bag toss, slime making, and a large blow up dinosaur to see.

We parked by Spartan Stadium and walked back to the car after the race.

We looked at the Red Cedar river - lots of leaves floating down the river.

We came home for lunch and a little time to play before the drive back to Perrysburg.
Andrew fell asleep by the time we got to the freeway - we had to wake him to go to the race as he is normally a late sleeper.
It was a busy weekend - and very enjoyable with the kids.

Way to GO, Linda!

That's so terrific, and I love that you won a backpack with the Dino Dash logo. What fun to have public recognition for a personally satisfying activity! Keep on keepin' on!
