Babies and Books

At my library I have a Babies and Books "class." The babes are between 7 and 16 months old......and such cuties!!!!
We sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and everyone gets a turn with the star wand. Sometimes they are reluctant to pass it to a friend, but it is a favorite activity. They don't always stay seated for stories!!!!!
Lucy and Erin are good friends.

William gets his turn with the star.

Miles studies all that's going on - he's one of the two younger babes - still sitting.

Recently we had a couple stories about hats and I brought in a basket full of them.
Grace looks very elegant - for 2 seconds!!!!

Erin had this hat on for another 2 seconds.

Hannah does not like hats at all!!!!!

Petey had this old gem on - again for 2 seconds!!!

Best hat of the day award goes to Andrew - his family are MSU fans.

Lucy got my straw hat.

We do stores and finger plays and songs for about 20 minutes - sometimes a little longer, then have a "play time." I bring out different toys each week - musical instruments, trucks, balls, etc.
Grace and Hannah play side by side.

The rocking boat is always out. I can't tell you how many times we sing Row, Row, Row Your Boat!!!!!!!!!
Erin and Petey enjoy the boat.

Hannah is absorbing so much at this time - she watches the "big kids" do everything. And she studies the toys carefully - you can see her mind processing!!

I also have a little riding toy out. Most times it is shared!!!!!

A stacking toy that I have had for almost 30 years is always a hit - build and knock over!!!! Or just try and fit the pieces together like Andrew and Lucy are doing.

If you are ever in need of a good time - Foster Library at 10:30 on Thursday mornings. I LOVE my babes!!!

I have been doing this for 3 years now - maybe a little more. I even have contact with some of my "graduates!!"
It's never to early to foster the love of books and reading with little ones - and the interaction of the children - and the moms - is a bonus!!!

I LOVE the photo of you with the kids in front of the fireplace! It is a keeper. [Also, I think I would like a turn with the star wand too!]

Great photos - I love to see kids enjoying their library time so much. Foster is very lucky to have you!

How lucky are you?

what cuties, Linda! They are lucky kids to have you stimulating their young minds. I agree -- you cannot start kids on books too young! Daisy

The pictures are wonderful! I wish Elkhart had a similar program for Jenny and her girls. It's obvious the kids are having a great time --- and I know you are, too!
