A Spring Sunday

I had told myself that on the next beautiful day I would wash a couple quilts that John uses......first his old "Nap Attack" - made in 1989 for his after lunch nap attacks. Then his Civil War Repro quilt - fabrics used only because of his interest in the Civil War.
This quilt is long - so that when he watches tv with his eyes shut, the quilt can go over his feet and up to his neck to keep him warm.
Our downstairs family room is often cool, so he is usually covered up with it in the evenings, too.

These little "Spring Beauties" are in bloom all over the back..........they may get mowed down but don't bloom for long, anyway.

The flowering tree in the front has the beginnings of leaves........when it is in bloom, it is very pretty.
I'll post a pic in a week or so.

I have some trillium that were transplanted from a walk in the woods a few years ago......they are just about ready to blossom.
Mango was following me as I was photographing green growth.

These are little anemone flowers in the front garden.
I noticed that the crocus that were there are all nibbled down to the one half inch line!!!!!!!!

We see this lovely forsythia bush from one of the kitchen windows. It's not ours - the neighbors cannot enjoy seeing it from their home - so I thank them for planting it for us!!

There are some perennials coming up around the yard.........YEAH!!!

The daffodils on the back hill look really nice. They are one thing the deer don't eat - YEAH!!!!
Each year I plant more of them......since my birthday is in March and that is the flower of the month, I really like them even more.

I had a "honey-do" project for John - the back sliding door was really hard to move.
It took a lot of doing, but the door was removed and we cleaned the wheels and track - soaked them with WD-40 and 3 in 1 oil - and got the door back on - it works much better!!!!

We also got the deck furniture out. Then had lunch outside. Seemed like a summer sunday sitting there listening to all the birds!!!

It was nice to sit on the deck after lunch and read.
I started The Pale Blue Eye by Louis Bayard - recommended in another blog - and so far, so good. It is a mystery that takes place in 1831 at West Point - with Edgar Allen Poe as a plebe......you will have to read it yourself, I will say no more.
