Internationl Quilt Show - Chicago

Saturday I joined 46 other ladies on a bus trip to the International Quilt Show in Rosemont, Ill. I got to the bus about 6:15 in the early morning and we left about 6:30.
Ruth took this picture - as you can see, I wanted to look beautiful, Cindy was tired, Lisa drinking caffeine, and Carol, eager to talk!!!!!!!! We drove past downtown Chicago - shrowded in some haze. I do believe it rained there all day - I heard that it did the same in Lansing. We didn't care - we were inside enjoying quilts and vendors.

John said Mango slept all day, never ate or even use his poop box. In the evening, he sits on Johns' lap (getting more sleep!) and I'm told he kept looking up the stairs to see when I was coming home!!!!! I was greeted with lots of attention, he ate, and stunk up the back hall!!! Can't believe he slept all night - right next to me, of course!!

Once inside the show, this little guy just looked out at all the people.......

There were quite a few "Welcome Spring" quilts - great for this time of year. I noticed how brown the scenery was as we traveled to Chicago......depressing brown. It was good to be inside and see lots of bright colors.

This is by Freida Anderson - I follow her blog and someday would like to take a class from her. She uses her hand dyed fabrics and the fuse technique.....
Ruth and I were attracted to this quilt - we both have March "jonquil" birthdays.

This one is by Laura Wasilewski - another dyer and fuser. I took a class from her last summer at NQA.
She and Frieda were at their booth - talked to both of them.
They both won awards at this show for their quilts.

There was another group of architectural inspired quilts. Interesting

This bit of architecture is a hording mouse in his house!!!!!!!!!!

We were at the show for six hours - brought our own lunches (water was $3 for a small bottle - don't even want to think about the price of food!!) and enjoyed a brief rest sitting down. I did notice that many others brought their own food in their backpacks - what did we do before backpacks????
There were many interesting quilts - LOTS were part of a journal challenge and exhibit. I took a few pictures, got an idea for free motion quilting an art quilt that is in the works, and enjoyed myself.
I think there was double the floor space for vendors......I tried not to get toooooooooo much.
It was time to go home and we met in the lobby - had to count heads a couple times and wait for that last straggler to show up.
I'm glad we waited..............

because Konishi was there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She had met up with Chris and Van and they found me!!
I am so glad........she had been at the show on Friday, but returned to get a quilt rack and hoop.
I had not had time to make contact with her to tell her I would be there - the decision to go to the show was not made until Thursday because of the family issues this past week and a half.

I always seem to find jewelry at a quilt show.
This bracelet is funky and me!!!

I did support the fabric vendors - more lime and turquoise - and a few other bright colors - some hand dyed from Laura - and a Very Hungry Caterpillar panel and fabric for a wall hanging for my library.
