Johns' new toy

John has a new truck. He has been looking on line for a few months. The small truck market is tight - there aren't many out there. A dealership drove to Wisconsin to get this one.

It is a Chevrolet Colorado. Right now it is parked in the neighbors' garage. They are in Florida for a couple months.

John has ordered a cab for the back - must cover all those tools he keeps there. It also will get an appointment at Ziebart for rust protection.
Anyone want a 1995 Chevy s-10 for $1800??? It runs, but needy..............

Family Time

My sister is here from Virginia. So my brother John, friend Sonia, niece Erin and her husband, Scott came from Indiana for the weekend.

Dinner Saturday night was here. Scrumptious shrimp dish was on the menu. Barb brought out her Bananagrams game.
Fun making words. It's kinda like scrabble, but you do your own thing and can change it at any time depending on the letters you have.

This evening Barb and I will go the MSU Basketball game - this team needs all the support it can get.

Anyone recognize these blocks????

Anyone recognize these lobster blocks?????

I believe they are from 2004.............

I had a little bag of more lobster fabric - small cut up pieces...........and just started piecing away. I really like being creative like this. The 4 baby quilts are just about done - 3 completed and one just has to have the binding tacked on the back. Something to do this evening with football on TV - not that I care about the football.

Brrrr......it's cold outside - a balmy 12 right now, but it was below zero last night. I've been out to walk with Leslie on Friday afternoon - not bad with smartwool and cuddle duds!!! This morning I went to John to the mall - boring!!!!!!! I'll get back outside this week.

Possessed

This is Mateo. He has been in my Babystorytime but recently graduated to the Toddler group. He has wonderful parents who will be bringing home a new baby in April. They came to the library with this book and picture. Pam wanted to make this quilt for the new baby - sex not known. She asked for direction. I told her to get fabrics and I would help her, of course!!!! That's what i do!!!!!
I came home and was possessed!!!!!!!!! I just had to try the technique of sewing the strips together and cutting the triangles and sewing them together. I started with pieces from my scrap bag and a few others easy to get from my closet.
In no time, I had the hexagon and then added the bug fabric at the ends to make a rectangle. This will be for Mateo. They will be moving to Arizona and I had to include some MSU fabric from their time here.

These are the extra pieces - for Mateos' baby doll. I couldn't let them go to waste!!!!!!!!

Pam purchased the fabrics for the baby quilt and due to tight monies, was going to return them. I interviened - "let me buy them from you and I'll make it."
The family stopped in the library Friday afternoon with the bag of fabric.
I washed it, added some yellows, and cut strips...........sewed the strips together..........and these are the 2 pieces that I cut into triangles.

Here is the hexagon. It measures about 54 inches across.

The directions say to cut off 2 edges to make a rectangle..........and a good size for a baby.

I'm not sure what to do - cut off the sides or leave this as a hexagon quilt for the baby........
Pam..........what do you want?????

Whatever I do, I will have lots of pieces left over - maybe a quilt for the mom????? It will be very scrappy looking...........
When I tackle a project like this...............I get possessed!!!!!!!!!!

My Jade Plant has Flowers!!!

I have a few jade plants in the house and this one almost bit the dust last Fall because it was skaggy and leggy looking. It sits on a table in the living room.

Now look at it!!!!!!! Buds!!!!!! These little flowers are almost a half inch across.

Using the super macro setting on the camera, I got these close ups. The flowers have lots more detail when magnified.

There are 7 branches with flowers and buds.

Guess this plant will stay!!!!!!!!!!
