Keeping Allison (and me!) Busy

Allison loves to read - just as her brother did when he was here, she checked out lots of books from my library when she was there on Thursday. Monday, for the quilter potluck, Allison sewed some squares together for an impromptu table runner. Fabric was a selection I had from a tote bag commission and from her sundress.

The table runner morphed!!!!!!!!! It became a quilt top!!!!!!
I cut more squares and we added some appliqued hearts that I had sitting on my table.
Allison arranged the squares and started sewing - mostly I sewed, but she helped get things ready to sew and ironed for me.

We found a fabric for the back - a black with multi colored spots........hey, it was her decision. I pieced batting and she started pin basting.

Next step was machine quilting. We sewed a wavy line on the seam lines..........it's a programmed stitch in my machine. Looks great!!!

Then the pins had to come out.
We did purchase a small floral for the binding............I had nothing that matched.
I sewed the binding on and hand tacked it on the back last evening.

Allison has a quilt for her friend Zoe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This afternoon we went to the pool again - were the only ones there most of the afternoon. It's 90 degrees and 99% humidity - where are the swimmers????? Allison got some new goggles at the store this morning. She spent most of her time diving for things. We both had fun on the diving board - playing follow the leader.
We made blueberry muffins to go with our dinner and Allison is watching Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs now...........she will sleep well tonight .........me too!!!!!!!

Saturday we hope to go to the Folk Festival - weather will be hot and steamy and probably chance of showers............
