Running of the Cows - NO BULL!!!!!

This is me this morning after running with the cows!!!!!!!!!

It is a 5K in Elsie Michigan as part of their Dairy Days.
There was a separate category for walkers and that is what I entered. I was second overall!!!
First was a 10 year old girl!!!! I was right behind her (only 3 seconds!!!!) and had no idea I was that close to the front of the group. In a race, runners and walkers are side by side.


I don't know my exact time - it will be in the paper on Sunday - or Monday. Whatever it was, it was a personal best for walking a 5K.



I'm really glad the little gal got the trophy - I don't want to have to build a case!!!!
I like medals!!!!!!!!
This is the group that was there from the Grand Ledge area. Many of them run together in the evenings and have kids in track. They went back to their van to change from their wet shirts - mine is still wet!!!!

I was up at 5:30 this morning and we left the area at 6:16. Weather deteriorated as we drove. Lightening, thunder, darkness, heavy downpour - at times I could hardly see the road!!! And, yes, I wondered about why I was doing this - I could turn around in the median and go home to bed!!!!



The rain lessened when we got to Elsie and the race was not called even tho it was raining and the thunder was moving away. It rained for about 3/4 of the race, then stopped for the end and the awards ceremony. By then who cared about sitting on wet bleachers for that!!! Five in the group got medals.



We went to the Kiwanis tent for pancakes, sausage and coffee afterwards. Then I came home, showered, and dressed for work - my Saturday at the library.



I know I will sleep well tonight.
