Basting and Knitting

The music quilt top was together, so I had to piece the back. I purchased the green music batik and used pieces from my stash of music fabrics. I especially wanted to use a little of the composer fabric.
I use the foyer floor to start basting - laying down the back, batting and carefully putting on the top.

I basted one way while the quilt is on the floor. It sure looks colorful!!!
There are red cornerstones (more music fabric) with the turquoise border on the lower edge - you can't see them here.

Then I bring the quilt to the island in my kitchen and finish basting so I can start machine quilting. The counter height is just perfect.
I will be doing straight line stitching - easy to do and get done by Christmas - I hope.

I have also been knitting scarves for teachers. Allison wanted to give her teacher a white scarf, the 2 brownish ones are for Alexanders' teachers and the black one is for the principal. I stopped at the dollar store today and got gift bags....
I got them done so they can take them back to Ohio after their Thanksgiving visit.

We have been having some very winter-like weather.
Lots of snow flurries and just a little dusting of accumulation - and cold temps.

It looks pretty if you don't have to go anywhere!!!!
Good weather to be inside quilting!!!!

I am working 6 days this week - so the quilting is waiting for me........
The crazy hours will end soon and I will get to the music quilt.

P.S. The music quilt is almost done - just need to hand tack the binding. It will be in Wyoming before Christmas!!!!

It was really ICY driving to and from guild last night! Glad you don't have to do all the basting on the floor! Happy Thanksgiving!

Your music quilt is absolutely stunning! I really like how you took people's blocks with so many disparate fabrics and brought them together in a completely unified quilt. The mark of a true artist!

Sorry I had to miss Guild - how was it? What did I miss?
