New Quilt for John

I finished up the top and backing for a new quilt for John.

It has to be long enough to come to the neck and go down over his feet when lying on the couch.

I used ALL the leftover pieces for the backing. Only had to add 1 piece - and I'm sorry that she is on her head in this picture!!!!!!!!!

I don't usually purchase "lines" or stick to a line of fabric - but this one caught my eye for this project.

You can now see the focus fabric.



I want to get a wool batt for this - hopefully soft and warm for him.
I will machine quilt this myself.

Baby Storytime

At my library, I do an awesome Baby Storytime. The little ones are from 6 - 18 months old.

We do lots of stories and fingerplays and then have a little social time. I get out balls, vehicles, musical instruments or baby toys - something different each week.

Block Exchange and a Surprise

First, the surprise. A bright and cheery quilt for someone very special to me. She will LOVE it and the love it was made with. Thank you to my quilt friends.
These are the blocks for Louise - kid quilt in the making.

Blocks for Phyllis - another kid quilt - a grandson will get this one.

Quick Trip

Ruth and I drove to Sauder Village to drop off quilts for the Quilt Fair this morning.

On the way we passed this sign. We got the quilts checked in and made a quick stop at the quilt store there.

I did find more of the fabric for the quilt for John. Also purchased the challenge fabric for their 2012 show..........I just might do it!!!!

We will return next Sunday to see the show - with a car - or two - full of quilt friends.

New Quilt

When at Deb's earlier this spring I bought a group of fat quarters.

My idea was to start something for John - he needs a new nap quilt. These fabrics seemed masculine enuf to me. I have these 16 blocks done............need many more.

There really is a focus fabric in there - that is what i need most. What an excuse to buy fabric!!!!!!!

Cruel Trick

More snow fell in Southern Michigan...........we are supposed to feel lucky!!!!!!!!!!

I washed all my long sleeve Smartwool shirts on Saturday..............it has NOTHING to do with this snow!!!!!

Wedding

Saturday we attended the wedding of Tricia and Ed. I was Tricias' Developmental Kindergarten teacher - just a few years ago!!!!!!!!! This is a horrible picture of me - I had only 2 large drinks!!!! It was rainy and windy - so the flat, messy hair look was "in." We had an enjoyable time. It is nice to see a former student so successful. What's on the design wall? This is finished - machine pieced and quilted and lots of little beads in the centers of the flowers. It will go to Burcham for them to hang in the hallway where my parents live.

This is going somewhere..........need a medium light to do some applique on.
